A dog barking down the street, a partner snoring or a door slamming in the hallway can pull you out of deep sleep in seconds. A white noise machine covers those sudden sounds with a steady, soothing background, so your brain stops reacting to every little noise.
We picked six of the most trusted sound machines on Amazon: real-fan models with a natural whoosh, digital machines with dozens of non-looping sounds and a portable, battery-powered option for travel and naps on the go.

Buyerโs Guide: How to Choose
Real fan or digital?
Fan-based machines like the Dohm and SNOOZ create a natural, non-repeating sound. Digital models offer more sound choices and are usually smaller.
Avoid audible loops
Look for non-looping sounds so you do not notice a repeating pattern while falling asleep.
Check the power source
Many machines need to stay plugged in. If you travel, nap in the car or use it in a nursery, a built-in battery is worth it.
Keep the volume sensible
Place the machine a few feet from the bed and keep the volume moderate, especially for babies.
Final Thoughts
The Yogasleep Dohm Classic is still the gold standard for a simple, natural fan sound. Choose the SNOOZ if you want app scheduling, the LectroFan EVO for lots of non-looping sounds in a small box, and the Dreamegg if you need a battery for travel.
